EBSC Member Spotlight – Mariana of the Balboa South

If you’ve been to The Balboa South in Chula Vista, you don’t have to imagine it… you can order it and wolf it down.

For Emo Brown Social Club members, the Balboa South is more than just a burger restaurant – it’s another of the businesses we roll with.

And, if it feels like home to you, you’ve got La Prima Mariana (aka Mariana Cardenas, the owner of the Balboa South) to thank.

“The mission for Balboa is to become a second home for all our customers,” Mariana says. “We are a place were you can relax, have an amazing meal & feel right at home. I wanted to add to the Balboa the warmth of our Mexican culture — the flavors and smells we are all familiar with.”

Born and raised in La Presa, Tijuana, as owner of the Balboa South she works hard to serve our South Bay community one burger at a time.

It’s not just about the food, either. Whether it’s holding special events, hosting Tuesday Family Meal Days, or special menus, the Balboa South is another local business that’s following the Emo Brown motto of “Doing Good in Our Hood.”

Just take their current “Tots for Toys” event in November. Just bring in a new, unwrapped toy and get a free order of TATER TOTS as a token of appreciation. All of the toys will go to benefit the students at Rohr Elementary.
